Biographical Information[edit]

Rian Kiniry has played as high as AAA.

Kiniry was drafted by the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim in the 40th round of the 2005 amateur draft out of high school. After a year of junior college, LA took him again, this time in the 39th round of the 2006 amateur draft as a draft-and-follow who wound up signing. The scouts were Mike Silvestri and Demetrius Figgins.

In his first pro campaign, Kiniry hit .260/.337/.307 as the main center fielder for the 2007 Orem Owlz. He split 2008 between Orem (.262/.330/.291 in 48 G) and the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes (.191/.280/.281 in 31 G in a high-offense environment). He saw limited action in 2009 with the Quakes (.236/.313/.303 in 31 G) and the Arkansas Travelers (2 for 4, 2B, 2 R). In 2010, the Floridian was with the same teams in a larger role, hitting .270/.308/.358 in 88 games for the Quakes and .147/.190/.214 in 25 for the Travelers. He stole 26 bases on the year but was caught stealing 15 times. He tied Mike Trout for second in the Angels chain in times gunned down running, though Trout stole a lot more bases. Only Tyson Auer was caught stealing more.

In 2011, Kiniry played for the Inland Empire 66ers (.250/.339/.333 in 73 G), Travelers (3 for 27, 5 BB) and Salt Lake Bees (.302/.352/.497 in 41 G).
