Biographical Information[edit]

Rene Miniel pitched in the minor leagues and the CPBL.

Miniel began his professional career with the Boston Red Sox, and he was 1-2 with a 4.06 ERA for the GCL Red Sox in 1999. He was 2-4 with a 4.00 ERA in GCL in 2000, then he went 7-10 with a 4.51 ERA for the Augusta GreenJackets in 2001. Miniel was 7-10 with a 4.51 ERA for the Sarasota Red Sox, and he went 3-4 with a 3.34 ERA in Sarasota in 2003 . He also recorded a 2.45 ERA in 15 appearances for the Portland Sea Dogs in the latter season.

The Red Sox traded him to the San Diego Padres for Lou Merloni after the 2003 season. He had a 4.64 ERA in 30 games for the Mobile BayBears, and his ERA was 7.33 in 16 games for the Lake Elsinore Storm. Miniel then signed with the Macoto Cobras of Taiwan, and he notched 11 saves with a 4.50 ERA in 26 games. He was 3rd in saves, tying Po-Hsien Wu and Chi-Hsien Ho. He then pitched in Italy, and he was 2-3 with a 6.86 ERA for the Calgary Vipers in 2010.
