Biographical Information[edit]

Po-Hsien Wu pitched in the CPBL for 6 years.

Wu was drafted by the Brother Elephants in the fifth round of the 2003 CPBL Draft. He only pitched one game in his rookie year, then he broke out in 2005. Wu was selected into the 2005 CPBL All-Star Game, and he notched the save with 2 shutout innings. He ended up collecting 11 saves with a 2.21 ERA in 36 games, and he was 3rd in saves (13 behind Dario Veras). However, Wu struggled in 2006 as his ERA rose to 5.58 in 20 games, then he recorded a 4.34 ERA in 18 games in 2007. He bounced back in 2008, having a 3.03 ERA in 31 games while notching 4 holds. Wu then slumped to 6.00 ERA in 24 games in 2009. He was involved in a game-fixing scandal after the 2009 season, and the league banned him for life.

Wu's repertoire included a fastball (peak 94.4 mph), curveball, slider, cutter, changeup and forkball.

Overall, Wu was 13-9 with a 4.12 ERA, collected 7 holds and 11 saves in 130 appearances, struck out 168 and pitched 207 2/3 innings in 6 seasons in the CPBL.
