Biographical Information[edit]

Reggie Williams has played in the minors. His father Reggie Williams Sr., a wide receiver, had signed with the NFL Houston Oilers but never played in the NFL. Interestingly, the next Reggie Williams to be drafted was also a Reggie Jr., son of a former major leaguer.

Williams was the Minnesota Twins' 4th-round pick in the 2008 amateur draft. He was taken one pick after Charlie Furbush. He was the fourth straight high school position player Minnesota took, following Ben Revere, Danny Rams and Angel Morales. He was also one of the first five signees from the Urban Youth Academy.

Reggie hit .286/.358/.440 in his first pro season with the GCL Twins but fielded only .905 at second base. He split 2009 between the Beloit Snappers (6 for 10, 2 2B, 2 BB) and Elizabethton Twins (.250/.316/.462). He fielded just .867 at third (his main position that year) for Elizabethton. In 2010, he slumped to .236/.302/.361 and only stole 7 bases in 21 tries. He tied for third in the Midwest League in times caught stealing. He moved around the field, with 28-37 games in left field (.979 FLD), third base (.886) and second base (.917). Overall, he had 24 errors.

In 2011, Williams again served in a utility role, this time with Beloit (.316/.376/.447 in 23 G) and the Fort Myers Miracle (.234/.294/.325 in 58 G).
