Biographical Information[edit]

Reggie Ritter pitched for the Cleveland Indians in 1986 and 1987.

He and Tommy McCraw are the only two major leaguers born in Malvern, AR. Reggie attended Henderson State University, the only major leaguer to do so (through 2019). His first two minor league seasons were with the Waterloo Indians, and then in 1985 he went 11-9, split between AA and AAA ball. Mostly playing AAA ball in 1986 and 1987 (and posting winning records each time), he came up to the major league Indians for 5 games in 1986 and 14 in 1987, all in relief. From 1988-1890, he continued to play minor league ball in the Indians, Detroit Tigers and Chicago Cubs organizations. He had a 2.66 ERA split between three teams in 1989, but did not appear in the majors.

He is not to be confused with Reggie Richter. Through 2019, there have been four other major leaguers with the last name Ritter, and all of the others played prior to 1920.

As of 2019, he worked in financial services in Arkansas.
