Biographical Information

Red Badgro (pronounced BADGE-ROW, not BAD-GROW) is better known for his professional football career, earning election to Canton and the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1981. One of the first players to come out of USC, he also played two years in baseball's big leagues as a member of the St. Louis Browns. He fought for playing time in right field with Beauty McGowan in 1929 and Tedd Gullic in 1930. Heinie Manush was the left fielder in 1929 while Goose Goslin played there in 1930. In 1928, the year before he made his major league debut, he hit .394 in 37 games at Muskogee and .334 in 92 games at Tulsa.
