Biographical Information

Missouri native Tedd Gullic spent twenty-six active years in professional baseball from 1927 to 1953.

Gullic spent two of his seasons in the major leagues with the St. Louis Browns in 1930 and 1933. Ted was used mostly as an outfielder during his playing time and managed a big league career hitting average of .247 with nine home runs in 196 games. This was his only time in the major leagues.

Tedd spent the rest of his career in the minor leagues, 18 years as a player and six more as a manager. He had eleven good seasons with the Milwaukee Brewers of the American Association from 1931 through 1942. Ted hit over the .300 mark in eight of the years. His best performance came in 1932 when he hit at a .354 clip with 27 home runs in 491 at-bats. He missed part of the season in 1934 when he pulled a tendon in his leg. He was injured when sliding into second base against Kansas City, May 30.

In his 18 year run in the minor leagues he managed to hit over the .300 mark 12 times. His hitting numbers in the minors show that he appeared in 2,372 games with 2,727 hits that included 370 home runs in 8,867 at-bats for a .308 career hitting average.

After his playing days were over Tedd managed four different teams from 1946 to 1953. His clubs put together a composite 392-397 record during his time at the helm. He would leave the game in 1953 at the age of 46.

After baseball, Gullic purchased interest in an insurance company in West Plains in 1954, retiring from that business in 1994. He was also an avid quail hunter. Tedd died on January 28, 2000 at the National Health Care Center in West Plains, MO. He was 93 years of age.
