Biographical Information[edit]

Ray Rippelmeyer pitched professionally from 1954 to 1965. He missed the 1956 season due to military service. Rippelmeyer led the 1954 Three-I League with a 2.91 ERA while going 16-6. He spent 1957 through 1965 in AAA except for his half season with the Washington Senators in 1962 and half of 1958 with the Atlanta Crackers.

After his playing career ended, Rippelmeyer managed the Aberdeen Pheasants in 1965, coached the San Diego Padres of the Pacific Coast League in 1966-1967, and was a minor league instructor for the Philadelphia Phillies in 1968-1969. He then was a Phillies coach from 1970 to 1978.

After retiring for about ten years, Rippelmeyer was back. He was a roving minor league coach for the Phillies in 1988. He then spent 1989-1990 as pitching coach for the Nashville Sounds, then moved to the New York Mets' organization through 2003. He was the pitching coach for the Capital City Bombers at one point and for the Norfolk Tides in 1997-1998.

His name is misspelled "Ripplemeyer" in the 1979 edition of the Macmillan Baseball Encyclopedia and in other sources.
