Biographical Information

Randy Fierbaugh pitched in the minor leagues from 1974 to 1980. He spent the final three seasons of his career at Triple A, but never ascended to the majors.

He was taken by the Montreal Expos in the 5th round of the 1974 amateur draft, one pick ahead of catcher Stan Cliburn. That year, he went 6-5 with a 2.34 ERA in 15 starts, including 11 at Double A. The next year, he had 8 complete games and 2 shutouts for the AA Quebec Carnavals, and in 1976, he added 5 more CGs for Quebec, despite his ERA rising to 4.44 from 3.55 the year before. He joined the San Diego Padres organization for 1977 and went 7-15 with a 5.30 ERA over the next two seasons. On June 6, 1979, the Padres traded him to the Baltimore Orioles system for pitcher Dennis Blair. He spent the next year-and-a-half in the Orioles system to wrap up his career.

Overall, Fierbaugh went 31-44 with a 4.23 mark in 159 games (84 starts) over 7 seasons. At Triple A, he was 7-7 with a 5.14 ERA in 68 games (11 starts).

He later coached at East Lake High School, mentoring Chris Coghlan.
