Biographical Information[edit]
Rafael Escobar has pitched for the Ecuador national team. He helped them to a Bronze in the 2005 South American Championship, when he was only 17 years old. In the 2006 COPABE qualifiers for the 2008 Olympics, he allowed three hits, one walk and two runs while retiring no one in two outings. He was on Ecuador when they won the Silver Medal in the 2011 South American Championship and 2012 South American Championship.
He played in the 2013 Bolivarian Games, when Ecuador won Bronze. He tossed three shutout innings (4 H, 2 K) after relieving Nelson Mieles in a 4-0 loss to Guatemala and threw two shutout frames (one hit) in a 6-0 loss to Silver Medalist Venezuela.
