Pitcher Quan Huang has played for the Chinese national team. His fastball has reached 90 mph.
Huang has pitched with the Jiangsu Hopestars since their China Baseball League debut in 2005. He was with China for the 2006 World Baseball Classic, being their last pitcher in their loss to Japan. He relieved Hongrui Li with no outs, five runs home that inning and one man on. He began by giving up a RBI single to Michihiro Ogasawara. Motonobu Tanishige ground into a double play. Shinya Miyamoto doubled in Ogasawara, but Huang retired Ichiro Suzuki on a grounder to prevent more damage.
Huang tossed 1 1/3 scoreless innings in the 2006 Haarlem Baseball Week, giving up two hits and a walk.
