Hongrui Li has been a pitcher for the Chinese national team.

Li played for China in the 2006 World Baseball Classic and was their least-effective hurler. The 19-year-old failed to retire a batter in his appearance against the Japanese national team. He walked Nobuhiko Matsunaka on five pitches and Hitoshi Tamura on six. Toshiaki Imae then hit a two-run single and Quan Huang relieved Li.

In the 2006 Haarlem Baseball Week, Li allowed one run in 3 1/3 innings over three games. He played in the 2006 Konami Cup. In the 2007 Arizona Fall League, he was again unsuccessful, allowing 7 hits, 5 walks and 11 runs in his lone inning of work.
