Team History[edit]
The Pollos del Cibao (Cibao Roosters) are a former Dominican League team. The Pollos replaced the Gigantes del Nordeste after their disastrous 1998-99 season when they set the league record for fewest wins. To exorcise the ghosts of the previous season, the new owners decided to change the team's name. They continued to be based in San Francisco de Macoris and to play their home games in Estadio Julian Javier. In 2002, they were sold to a group led by former major leaguer Stan Javier, who changed the name again to the Gigantes del Cibao.
