Biographical Information[edit]

Po-Jen Cheng pitched in the CPBL for 4 years.

Cheng was drafted by the Uni-President Lions in the third round of the 2005 CPBL Draft, and he joined their bullpen in 2006. He pitched 34 games in his rookie year, and he notched 4 holds with a 4.34 ERA. In the 2006 Taiwan Series, he pitched 1/3 of a shutout inning in Game 4, and the Lions beat the La New Bears in 7 games. However, his ERA rose to 6.46 in 12 games in 2007, and he allowed 6 runs in 10 innings in 2008. Cheng only had 2 appearances with the big club in 2009, and he announced his retirement. He then became the pitching coach for the minor league team of the Lions from 2010 to 2013 and for the big club from 2014 to 2019. He returned to their minor league team in 2020.

Overall, Cheng was 2-1 with a 5.79 ERA, struck out 34 and pitched 74 2/3 innings in 4 seasons in the CPBL.
