Biographical Information[edit]
Pietro Caranzetti played for the Italian national team in the first European Championship. In their 1954 European Championship opener, he replaced Luciano Maolini at first base in a win over Belgium. He went 1 for 2 and handled three putouts. [1] He was 2 for 4 against Spain's Antonio Pueyo in the title game win. [2] He backed up Giancarlo Mangini in the 1956 European Championship, going 0 for 2 with a walk for the Bronze medalists while handling 15 chances error-free at first. [3] Stats are only available for domestic competition for him from 1956-1960 and he did not fare well, batting .130/.276/.188 and fielding .945. [4] He won six Italian titles. [5]
