Biographical Information[edit]
Peter Rasmussen was an Olympic player.
Rasmussen hit .550 with four homers and 15 RBI in six games for the Greek national team in the 2002 qualifiers for the 2003 European Championship, their first tournament ever. The Illinois native batted .320/.370/.360 in the 2003 Euros. In the Gold Medal game, he hit 8th and played left field, going 0 for 3 with two strikeouts against Rob Cordemans and Alexander Smit. He also made his pro debut that year, going 0 for 3 with two whiffs for the Lincoln Saltdogs.
In 2004, Peter batted .177/.257/.292 with 30 strikeouts in 96 AB for the High Desert Mavericks, a Milwaukee Brewers farm team. He fielded only .810 in the outfield. He was 1 for 7 with a double, run and RBI in the 2004 Olympics, splitting time in left with Peter Maestrales, Jim Kavourias and Bobby Kingsbury and also backing up in right. He hit .182/.250/.273 for Greece in the 2005 European Championship; he also pitched two innings (3 H, 4 BB, 3 R, 0 K).
