Biographical Information

Bobby Kingsbury played five seasons in the minor leagues and was in the Olympics.

Kingsbury hit .363 as a college sophomore and led the Atlantic-10 Conference in triples (6) and steals (36). He was named the A-10's Player of the Year despite being on a sub-.500 squad and was an All-Conference outfielder. He tied for 18th in NCAA Division I in stolen bases.

In 2003, the junior hit .380 with 12 homers and 19 steals. His 5 triples tied for the Conference lead and he again was chosen as an All-Conference outfielder. He finished fourth in the circuit in average. He again was named the Conference Player of the Year.

The Pittsburgh Pirates chose Kingsbury in the 8th round of the 2002 amateur draft; he was scouted by Charlie Sullivan.

Kingsbury made his pro debut with the Williamsport Crosscutters, batting .267/.312/.412 with six steals in seven attempts. Bobby struggled with the 2003 Hickory Crawdads, hitting .223/.300/.390 though he did finish third on the team in home runs (11) and second in triples (6, one behind Rajai Davis).

In 2004, the Cleveland native was back with Hickory, where he hit .247/.317/.481 and stole 14 bases in 16 attempts for the South Atlantic League champions, joining Adam Boeve and Nyjer Morgan as the starting outfielders. Kingsbury hit 19 home runs, third on the club behind Jon Benick and Boeve and more than double future major leaguer Craig Stansberry. Kingsbury accomplished this despite missing a fair portion of August as he played for Greece in the 2004 Olympics. In the Summer Games, Bobby was 1 for 14 with a walk; his lone hit was a triple against Italy in Greece's lone win.

Kingsbury hit .246/.342/.429 for the 2005 Lynchburg Hillcats and made the Carolina League midseason All-Star Game. He dislocated his shoulder in spring training of 2006. He returned to the diamond in 2007 with Hickory (.275/.359/.451, 19 SB, 3 CS) and Lynchburg (.233/.283/.326 in 13 games).

Overall, Bobby batted .249/.326/.433 in the minor leagues and stole 57 bases in 75 attempts.
