Biographical Information[edit]
Pete Lauritson graduated from the University of Iowa in 2002 with a degree in psychology. Soon after that he joined the college coaching ranks as a North Iowa Area Community College assistant coach. During his tenure as hitting coach from 2004-2016, NIACC was an offensive power and the team's offense led NIACC to three appearances in the NJCAA division II College World Series. He also served as the program's recruiting coordinator his last four years. Lauritson moved to the University of Iowa in fall 2016 as a volunteer assistant coach, but only stayed in that role through the remainder of the year. In addition, Lauritson spent four summers coaching in the Northwoods League. He was the bench coach for the Waterloo Bucks in 2007 before managing the team in 2008-2009. In 2011 he was an assistant coach with the Eau Claire Express.
The Cleveland Indians hired Lauritson in 2017 and he spent the next four years working in their minor league system. He was the hitting coach for the Mahoning Valley Scrappers in 2017 and for the Lake County Captains in 2018. Lauritson spent 2019-2020 as the Indians' minor league short-season hitting coordinator.
Lauritson returned to the college coaching ranks in 2021 as an assistant coach for Kirkwood Community College.
