Biographical Information[edit]
Pedro Pena was a minor league pitcher for three years.
Pena signed originally with the Oakland Athletics. He split 1989 between the Southern Oregon A's (5-2, 2.69, 52 H in 70 1/3 IP) and Modesto A's (8 R in 8 1/3 IP). He was 8th in the Northwest League in ERA, between Kerry Knox and Eddie Zinter. In 1990, the righty was with the Madison Muskies (5-4, 2.68, 63 H, 41 BB in 84 IP) and Modesto (3-7, 3.75, 37 BB in 72 IP). He was then dealt with Darren Lewis to the San Francisco Giants for Ernie Riles. Interestingly, that trade would be the last one between the two neighboring teams until 2020!
In 1991, Pena was 4-4 with a save and a 3.26 ERA, fanning 88 and walking 38 in 88 1/3 IP. It was his final season; given the numbers to that point, injury likely ended his career. Overall, he was 17-17 with a save and a 3.18 ERA in 60 games (51 starts), allowing only 259 hits in 323 innings.
