Biographical Information[edit]

Philip "Peaches" O'Neill was with the Cincinnati Reds in 1904. He made his debut in April and played his last major league game in August of that year. He played mostly catcher.

O'Neill was born in Anderson, IN, northeast of Indianapolis, IN. Tom Fisher was also born in Anderson, and made his major league debut in 1904 one day after O'Neill did.

He attended the University of Notre Dame, also in Indiana, and was there at the same time as a number of other future major leaguers, the most prominent of which was Bob Bescher.

According to SABR, he also worked as an attorney during off-seasons.

He is one of only three major leaguers remembered with the first name Peaches. The first, Peaches Graham, came up earlier than O'Neill for a couple of cups of coffee but only became prominent in 1908.
