Biographical Information[edit]
Pavel Akishev played for the Russian national team several times.
Akishev was 3 for 8 at the plate in the 2003 European Championship but allowed 7 runs, 8 hits and 8 walks in 7 2/3 IP; only Anton Shirokiy had a worst ERA for Russia. In the 2003 Baseball World Cup, he gave up 10 hits and 10 runs in 4 2/3 IP. He was 0-2 in the 2005 European Championship but with a 0.66 ERA, hurt by poor run support and defense, unearned runs costing him a game against Greece and taking a tough defeat against Sweden.
Akishev gave up 7 runs in 4 2/3 IP in the 2007 European Championship and had Russia's worst ERA - most of the damage came in a start against the British national team, with 6 runs in 1 2/3 IP in that contest.
