Bingham was named a first-team All-American by Daktronics and the National Colelgiate Baseball Writers Association at shortstop and was picked at second team by the American Baseball Coaches Association. He was the first first-team All-American from IUP in 20 years, since Kevin McMullan.

The San Diego Padres chose Paul in the 20th round of the 2010 amateur draft, the first IUP player chosen in seven years and the first position player since 1992. Assigned to the AZL Padres, he had a strong pro debut, going two for four with a walk, steal, two runs and a RBI on June 21. It was a good time to debut in the Arizona League if you were a shortstop from a southwestern Pennsylvania college as Danny Lopez from Pitt had also begun with a bang.
