Biographical Information

Patrick Purtell was a baseball player in Binghamton, NY before the creation of the first professional leagues. he was the catcher for the first Binghamton Club. He later moved to Columbus, OH where he worked as a baker.

Three of his sons went on to play professional baseball, including major leaguer Billy Purtell and long-time minor league manager Marty Purtell.
