Biographical Information

When Patrick Newnam hit .216 for the St. Louis Browns in 1910, he was only two points below the team average of .218. The next year he hit .194 in 20 games but John Black, the player who appeared in the most games at first base, hit .151.

He led all minor leagues with 18 HR in 1908 for the San Antonio Bronchos.

He spent 20 years as a player, umpire and manager in the Texas League. He played on league champions in 1908 and 1909. His nine years as a manager stretched between 1907 and 1923. He umpired in the Texas League in 1924. Source: Texas League Hall of Fame (although note that the chart below credits him with 11 seasons as a manager).

He was President of the Gulf Coast League in 1926 and the Lone Star League in 1927.
