Biographical Information[edit]

Packy Casey worked for a number of years as an assistant coach in college baseball before being named a coach with the Minnesota Twins in 2022.

He was a catcher at the University of North Dakota before completing his studies at the University of St. Thomas with a degree in English and Literature Arts. He was a volunteer and then a full-time assistant coach at St. Thomas from 2007 to 2012. In his years at St. Thomas he was part of five Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) championships, five NCAA Regional appearances and two Division III College World Series, including winning the 2009 National Championship. In addition to coaching, Casey served as the program's recruiting coordinator his final three years.

He also attended scouting school during that time and served as a coach in the Northwoods League in the summers of 2012-2014. Casey was an assistant coach the first summer before being promoted to hitting/third base coaching duties in 2013-2014. He was named 2013 Northwoods Coach of the Year after the Bucks won a league-record 51 games and made their first playoff appearance since 2002.

Casey moved to Butler University for the 2013-2014 season where he served as their hitting coach. In fall 2014 Casey joined the University of Minnesota coaching staff. He spent the first two years as a volunteer assistant coach before becoming a full-time assistant. In the summer of 2018 Casey also assumed the duties of Recruiting Coordinator for the team.

Casey joined the Twins sometime after completing the 2022 season with the Golden Gophers. He returned to the University of Minnesota in 2023-2024, leaving after John Anderson's retirement.

Casey's grandfather Bob Casey was the long-time public address announcer for the Minnesota Twins.
