Biographical Information[edit]

Oscar Rivera pitched in the minors leagues and the CPBL.

Rivera began his professional career with the Los Angeles Dodgers, and he was 2-1 with a 4.13 ERA for the Great Falls Dodgers in 1995. He pitched for the Mexico City Diablos Rojos in Mexico in 1996, and he went to the Reynosa Broncos in 1997. After spending the 1998 season with the Chetumal Mayas, Rivera went to the Veracruz Aguila and he was 7-4 with a 2.54 ERA for them. He then signed with the Wei Chuan Dragons, and he was 2-2 with a 2.83 ERA in 1999 CPBL. Rivera pitched a shutout inning in 1999 Taiwan Series Game 1, and he recorded another two shutout innings after relieving Gabriel Ozuna in Game 2. He completed a shutout inning in each of Game 3 and 5, and the Dragons beat the Chinatrust Whales in 5 games.

After leaving Taiwan, Rivera returned to Mexico and he was 8-5 with a 3.86 ERA in Veracruz in 2000. He went 5-5 with a 3.28 ERA there in 2001, and he also recorded a solid 1.61 ERA in 21 appearances for the Leones de Yucatan. Rivera had a 2.66 ERA in 26 games in Yucatan in 2002, and he went 6-11 with a 4.88 ERA as a starter for the Piratas de Campeche. He was 3-6 with a 5.20 in Campeche in 2003, then he went 2-3 with a 5.45 ERA in 2005 for the Saraperos de Saltillo. Rivera was 2-10 with a 4.35 ERA for the Olmecas de Tabasco in 2006, but his ERA rose to 7.45 for the Potros de Tijuana in 2007 then he retired.
