Biographical Information[edit]
The St. Louis Cardinals signed Gabriel Ozuna as a non-drafted free agent in 1987 and he enjoyed a 17-year professional career. Ozuna reached as high as Triple-A with the Louisville Redbirds in 1992, when he posted a 2.92 ERA in 35 relief appearances. He recorded a career ERA of 2.64 with 61 saves, including a season-high 28 saves in 1989 with the Single-A Savannah Cardinals. Ozuna also pitched internationally in the Chinese Professional Baseball League (1996-2000, 2003) and in Mexico (2000).
Ozuna joined the Oakland Athletics organization in 2008 to begin a long tenure in the team's player development system.
