Biographical Information

Pitcher Noé Ramirez made his major league debut with the Boston Red Sox in 2015.

Ramirez attended Cal State Fullerton and went 8-4 with a 1.69 ERA and 103 strikeouts as a junior and then was selected by the Boston Red Sox in the fourth round of the 2011 amateur draft. He made his pro debut the following year with the Greenville Drive, going 2-7 with a 4.15 ERA in 16 starts. He began 2013 with the Salem Red Sox of the Carolina League, pitching out of the bullpen.

Ramirez made his major league debut with the Red Sox on July 3, 2015 against the Houston Astros, giving up 4 runs in the 10th inning to be charged with a 12-8 loss. It was his only decision in three seasons with the Red Sox, totaling 33 games.

On July 17, 2019, while pitching for the Los Angeles Angels, he was suspended for three games for throwing at Houston Astros batter Jake Marisnick the day before, in what was clearly retaliation for Marisnick having bowled over and injured Noé's teammate, C Jonathan Lucroy, a week earlier. He pitched four season with the Angels, having been claimed off waivers from Boston midway through the 2017 season, lasting through 2020. He was used as a middle reliever and occasional opener in bullpen games, going 13-9, 4.04 in 151 with 1 save. On December 7, 2020, he was traded to the Cincinnati Reds along with a player to be named later in return for closer Raisel Iglesias.
