Biographical Information[edit]

Niklas Eriksson played in the Elitserien and for the Swedish national team.

Eriksson got into one game in the 1995 European Championship, replacing Olof Lindfors in left late in a rout of Ukraine. He singled in a run in his lone at-bat and handled one putout. He was not the lone Eriksson on the team; they also had Tomas Eriksson, possibly a relative (the Swedish team has had numerous sets of brothers over the years). [1] He hit .077/.250/.077 in the 2001 European Championship, with one run and one RBI in four games. He allowed eight hits and five runs (two earned) in 2 2/3 IP. [2]

Elitserien stats prior to 2004 are not available online. In '04, he was 0-2 with a 4.20 ERA for the Alby Stars. He did not play in '05 and was 1-0 with a 5.40 ERA in 2006. In 2007, he hit .309/.423/.357 and was 1-7 with a 8.93 ERA. He tied for second in losses, two behind Mikael Boström. Moving to the Stockholm Monarchs for '08, batting .255/.320/.319 was 4-2 with a 3.51 ERA. He tied Mikael Andersson for 9th in wins. The next year, he was at 5-1, 4.60 while turning 39 years old. He tied for 4th in victories. He was 3-1 with a 3.71 ERA in 2010, then pitched six shutout innings in 2012. [3]
