Biographical Information[edit]

Nick Ascue started his college playing career as a catcher at UVA-Wise. He then transferred to Averett University where he was both a catcher and utility fielder. During his time at Averett, Ascue was twice named USA South Academic All-Conference before graduating in 2015 with a degree in Exercise Science. He next earned a master's degree in Coaching Education and Athlete Development from Xavier University in 2018.

Ascue began his college coaching career at Covenant College as an assistant coach. He coached the Scots during the 2017-2018 seasons. After the latter season Ascue was an assistant coach for the Watertown Rapids squad that played in the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League. This is a wooden bat league for college student-athletes. Ascue spent 2019 as an assistant coach for the Centre College Colonels. After the season he worked as the hitting coach for the Fayetteville SwampDogs of the Coastal Plain League. With both the Rapids and SwampDogs, Ascue coached alongside manager David Anderson. Ascue moved once again for the abbreviated 2020 season when he was a volunteer assistant coach for the Bowling Green State University Falcons. Acue's last collegiate stop was at Georgia Tech. For the Yellow Jackets (AKA Ramblin' Wreck), Ascue served as the team's Director of Player Development and Baseball Operations in 2021-2022.

The New York Mets hired Ascue in 2023 for a hitting coach position with the FCL Mets. He stayed with the Mets organization for just one season.
