Biographical Information[edit]
Nate Shaver played collegiately at Mt. Hood Community College and New Mexico State University from 2006-2010. He was invited to join the Joliet Slammers in the independent Frontier League after college, but injured his arm which ended his playing career. He returned to college and earned a master's degree in Biology and a PhD in Sports Psychology and Kinesiology.
Shaver started his coaching career at New Mexico State as a volunteer assistant coach for the 2012 season. He moved up to a paid assistant coach position for the 2013-2014 seasons. In the summer of 2015 he was an assistant coach for the Kelowna Falcons in the West Coast League. In 2017 he was an assistant coach for the Wake Technical Community College Eagles. Shaver also coached the summer Martha's Vineyard Sharks in the Futures Collegiate Baseball League that year.
The Houston Astros hired Shaver in 2018 as a development coach for the Buies Creek Astros. He was promoted to manager in 2019 and managed the Fayetteville Woodpeckers. He was scheduled to return to Fayetteville in 2020 before the season was cancelled due to COVID-19. Shaver managed the Asheville Tourists from 2021-2024.
