Biographical Information[edit]

Myung-woo Lee pitched in the KBO for 14 years.

Lee was drafted by the Lotte Giants in the 2nd round of the 2002 KBO draft, and he had a 3.86 ERA in 19 games in his first season. He then pitched 25 games with a 3.60 ERA in 2003, and his ERA was 1.38 in 18 games in 2004. Lee slumped to a 5.34 ERA in 46 games in 2005, and he only pitched 3 1/3 innings in 2006. He missed the next three seasons due to military service, and he underwent Tommy John surgery in 2010. After missing most of the 2010 season, Lee returned in June 2011, and his ERA was 3.63 in 37 games.

As a LOOGY, Lee led the league with 74 appearances in 2012 (totaling 52 2/3 IP), and he notched 10 holds with a 2.95 ERA. He collected 20 holds with a 3.07 ERA in 2013, leading the league in games again (again well under an inning per game) and ranking 4th in holds (between Ji-man An and Tae-hyon Chong). Lee struggled in 2014 as his ERA rose to 7.02 in 64 games, and he was 9th in appearances (between Hyun-seung Lee and Seung-rak Son). His ERA was 5.64 in 59 games in 2015, and he recorded a 9.27 ERA in 45 games in 2016. Lee struggled again in 2017 as he pitched 34 games with a 5.74 ERA, then he had a 5.32 ERA in 59 games in 2018. He announced his retirement after the 2018 season, and he became an assistant coach for Busan Technical High School in 2019.

Overall, Lee was 12-26 with a 4.93 ERA, struck out 482 and pitched 289 innings in 14 seasons in the KBO.
