Biographical Information[edit]

Speedy outfielder-shortstop Mycal Jones began his professional career in 2009. He was taken by the Atlanta Braves in the fourth round of the 2009 amateur draft. The scout was Buddy Hernandez.

He stole 19 bases in 64 games his first pro campaign, then had 22 steals and 15 home runs in 2010. From 2011 to 2014, Jones stole 17, 29, 29 and 21 bases respectively, before dropping to seven steals in 2015. He was a Southern League Mid-Season All-Star in 2014, then reached Triple-A for the first time that summer, going hitless in a single at-bat for the Gwinnett Braves. He slashed .262/.344/.390 in 62 games for Gwinnett in 2015. He became a free agent following the 2015 campaign. He played in indy ball in 2016 to wrap up his playing career.

Jones went into coaching as a development coach for the Corpus Christi Hooks in 2018. He was scheduled to be a coach for the Clearwater Threshers in 2020 before the season was cancelled due to Covid-19. He was then a coach for the FCL Phillies in 2021 and bench coach of the Reading Fightin Phils in 2022. Jones was a coach for the Clearwater Threshers in 2023-2024.
