Biographical Information[edit]
Muhammad Akbar pitched for the Indonesian national team when they won Bronze in the 2005 Southeast Asian Games and Silver in the 2011 Southeast Asian Games. He led Indonesia with 10 1/3 IP in the 2015 Asian Championship. Relieving Ahmed Effendy in the opener against Pakistan, he allowed 7 hits, a walk and four runs in 4 2/3 IP, fanning three as Indonesia fell, 7-1. He relieved Effendy again versus Japan and threw 3 wild pitches in 1 1/3 IP (5 H, 1 BB, 3 R). He then started against China, one of only three starters Indonesia used in their five games as Effendy started 3 and Chindy Patria Yudharana one. He took the loss, giving up 8 hits, two runs and 9 runs in 4 1/3 IP while striking out one. His four strikeouts on the event were second on Indonesia behind Effendy's 6 and his 13.94 ERA was second-best among hurlers with more than one inning on Indonesia's beleaguered staff, behind Gunawan Pandu Khallista.
