Biographical Information[edit]
Shortstop Red McMahon played in the minor leagues from 1906 to 1916, hitting .222 with 1,023 hits in 1,336 games. His anemic bat eclipsed the .250 threshold only once in his career, in 1914 with the Norfolk Tars (it should be noted that he played a defense-first position in the Deadball Era). He spent considerable time playing for the Roanoke Tigers and Elmira Colonels.
He was once taken by the New York Highlanders from the Tigers in the 1906 Rule V Draft.
He managed the Tigers for part of the 1906 season and from 1915 to partway through 1916, he skippered the Tars.
