Biographical Information[edit]

Ming-Hsuan Chen pitched in the CPBL for 7 years.

Chen was 0-1 with a 1.12 ERA in the 2014 Haarlem Baseball Week, with the lowest ERA of the Taiwanese starters. He also played in the 2014 U-21 Baseball World Cup. In the 2015 Asian Championship, he pitched a five-inning mercy rule perfect game against Indonesia, fanning 7 of 15 batters. He finished the event second on the Silver Medalists in Ks, behind Yen-Ching Lu.

The EDA Rhinos selected him in the fourth round of the 2016 CPBL Draft, and he had 4 appearances with a 11.73 ERA in 2016. He started 12 games in 2017, but his ERA was 7.74. Chen also represented Taiwan in the 2017 Universiade, and he pitched 13 shutout innings with an event-leading 2 wins. Only Katsuki Azuma pitched more shutout innings than him. Chen had a 4.85 ERA in 12 relief outings in 2018, but his ERA rose to 9.28 in 13 games in 2019. He stayed in the minors for nearly the entire 2020 season, and the Fubon Guardians released him. The Wei Chuan Dragons picked him up, and he had a 2.84 ERA in 7 games in 2021. However, his ERA rose to 7.13 in 16 appearances in 2022, and the Dragons released him to end his professional career.

Overall, Chen was 2-14 with a 7.73 ERA, struck out 99 and pitched 117 2/3 innings in 7 seasons in the CPBL.

He throws a slider, forkball and fastball (peak 91.9 mph).
