Michael Ramazzotti

Biographical Information[edit]

Mike Ramazzotti played college ball at Santa Rosa Junior College and New Mexico Highlands University from 2000-2005. He earned a bachelor's degree in Business & Management from the latter. At some point he also earned a master's in Health and Physical Education/Fitness from the United States Sports Academy. After college he played professionally for the El Paso Diablos in the independent American Association, (2006), the Marina Waves? in the Italian Baseball League (2007 or 2008) [no such team played in the IBL either season; perhaps this was a minor league team in Italy?] and the Yuma Scorpions of the Golden Baseball League (2009).

Ramazzotti remained active in baseball after his playing career ended. His LinkedIn page listed below provides some details, but is not exhaustive. Other sources indicate he also coached at the youth travel ball and high school levels. For the latter, he coached the San Pasqual High School Golden Eagles and the Mira Mesa Senior High School Marauders.

He joined the college coaching ranks during the 2016 season as an assistant coach for the Santa Barbara City College Vaqueros. The next year Ramazzotti was the Director of Baseball Operations at the University of San Diego. He returned to the Toreros in 2018 as a volunteer assistant coach. After the season he and two other assistant coaches (including Brad Marcelino) resigned within a week of each other. Ramazzotti didn't travel far for his next job as he joined the University of California, San Diego Tritons a couple of months later as an assistant coach. He stayed in this position through 2021.

The Houston Astros hired Ramazzotti in 2022 as a development coach for the Asheville Tourists. He took over as the Astros' minor league infield & baserunning coordinator in 2023.
