Biographical Information[edit]
Mike Micucci was selected by the Chicago Cubs in the 51st round of the 1994 amateur draft and spent six seasons playing in their farm system. He began his career with the Williamsport Cubs and hit .190/.267/.210 while splitting catching duties. In 1995, Mike moved up to the Daytona Cubs and batted .195/~.267/.244 while backing up Jose Molina. Staying with Daytona, he batted .183/~.230/.183 as Pat Cline's cub. In his third season in Daytona, Micucci had a .250/~.309/.307 season while splitting time with Molina and Jeremy Lewis.
In 1998, Mike moved up to the West Tenn Diamond Jaxx and jacked his offensive line up to .290/~.368/.384, outhitting Molina, the regular starter, though at age 27, Micucci was in his prime and very old for AA ball. In his last year as a player, he hit .169/~.214/.177 for West Tenn, with only one extra-base hit (a double) in 124 AB.
After his playing career ended, he became a minor league coach in the Cubs organization. He coached the Daytona Cubs in 2000, the Lansing Lugnuts in 2001-2004 and returned to Daytona in 2005.
In 2006, he left for the Texas Rangers and moved up to manager of the Spokane Indians of the Northwest League. The next year, he became skipper of the Clinton LumberKings of the Midwest League. Micucci became the Rangers minor league field coordinator in 2010-2011.
In 2012, Micucci moved to the Los Angeles Angels' chain as manager of the Arkansas Travelers. He was then minor league field coordinator in 2013.
