Biographical Information[edit]
Mike Hooper played three games with the Baltimore Marylands of the National Association in 1873. A player named "Mike Hooper" (perhaps his father?) had been a star with the Marylands as early as 1858 (see the book When Johnny Came Sliding Home), when this Mike Hooper was eight years old. One of them played for the amateur Marylands in 1869-1870.
In addition to his short playing career, Hooper did some umpiring in the National Association from 1872 to 1874, and in the Union Association in 1884. His 18 games as an umpire are significantly more than his 3 as a player.
