Biographical Information[edit]
Mike Dee has been a long-time college coach.
Dee was All-State in high school in two states - as a junior in Illinois, as a senior in Wisconsin. He played in the 1979 NAIA College World Series. He was signed by the Milwaukee Brewers but never played in their system, being let go after spring training in 1980.
Dee was 100-24 as coach of Aquinas High School from 1982-1987 with four straight state titles. He then was pitching coach of the University of Minnesota from 1988-1998. He moved up to head coach with the University of Illinois at Chicago in 1999. He won Horizon League Coach of the Year 10 times (through 2019). The school set a record with 39 wins in 2017. One of the players he coached at Chicago was Curtis Granderson. Dee retired after the 2021 season. He returned to Aquinas as athletic director.
