Biographical Information[edit]

Miguel Rodríguez has played for the British national team.

He was born in England to a family from Mexico; his family's love of baseball helped make him a rare baseball player in Britain. [1] He hit .158/.360/.211 for Britain in the 2016 U18 European Championship, fielding .963; he had six walks and six runs in six games. He tied for second in the event with two triples (one behind teammate Richard Brereton and tied for 8th in walks. [2] In the 2017 European Championship U23, he was 2 for 14 with two runs and two RBI, fielding .833. [3] In the 2019 European Championship U23, was 1 for 7 but drew four walks and was hit by a pitch for a .500 OBP; he had two runs, one RBI and 11 chances error-free. He tied Johnny Fretheim for the team lead in walks. [4] In his third (and obviously final) U23 European Championship, he was 3 for 9 with a triple, two runs, RBI and six walks while fielding .909. He tied for 4th in the event in walks. [5]

Rodríguez was a backup on the British team in the 2021 European Championship as Kent Blackstone started at 2B, Aaron Singh at SS and Ben Andrews at 3B. He appeared twice, pinch-running for Singh in a loss to Israel and batting for Nateshon Thomas late in a loss to the Czech national team, striking out against Martin Schneider. [6]
