Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Miguel Almonte made his major league debut in 2015.

Almonte was signed by Kansas City Royals scouts Fausto Morel and Alvin Cuevas in November 2010. He allowed 7 runs in 11 2/3 innings for the 2011 DSL Royals. In 2012, he was very sharp for the DSL Royals (6-1, 1.44, 8 walks in 50 innings) and AZL Royals (2-1, 2.33). He was a Dominican Summer League All-Star. Despite not pitching in a full-season league, he tied for 8th in the Royals chain in victories. He began 2013 3-6 with a 3.30 ERA for the Lexington Legends but with over a strikeout per inning and was picked for the 2013 Futures Game.

After brief big league assignments with the Royals, Miguel was dealt on his 25th birthday (April 4, 2018) to the Los Angeles Angels for future considerations. He had been designated for assignment two days earlier when the Royals claimed the unrelated Abraham Almonte off waivers and needed to clear a spot for him on the 40-man roster. He made 8 big league appearances with the Halos and became a free agent after the 2019 season.
