Mickey Rawlings is the main character in a series of murder mysteries by author Troy Soos. Rawlings is an infielder who got his start playing for factory teams, where he given a "job", but in reality only played for the company team. He got his first look at the majors with a brief stint with the Boston Braves in 1911. He then played for the Boston Red Sox in 1912. Rawlings spent 1913 in the minors with the Beaumont Oilers of the Texas League. He returned to the majors with the New York Giants (1914-1916), Chicago Cubs (1917-1919), Detroit Tigers (1920), Cincinnati Reds (1921), St. Louis Browns (1922), New York Yankees (1923), and Washington Senators (1924). He also served in World War I in 1918.
Rawlings was named after Mickey Welch and grew up in New Jersey. He is the classic backup infielder, ready to do the "little things" to help the team win. He enters each season feeling this will be the year he finally plays in the World Series.
