Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Michael Schwimer was selected by the Philadelphia Phillies in the 14th round of the 2008 amateur draft. He was signed by scout Paul Murphy and made his pro debut that summer with the Williamsport Crosscutters, posting a 1.96 ERA and recording 8 saves in 22 outings. He spent most of the next year with the Clearwater Threshers, for whom he saved 20 games. He split 2010 between the Reading Phillies, for whom he notched 11 saves, and the Lehigh Valley IronPigs, for whom he recorded a 1.35 ERA in 16 games.

After returning to the IronPigs in 2011, he went 9-1 with a 1.88 ERA and 10 saves before being called up by the Phillies in August. He made his big league debut on August 21st against the Washington Nationals, giving up 1 earned run and striking out 4 in 3 innings of relief.
