Biographical Information[edit]

Michael Lutz was a slugging outfielder who played from 1948 to 1960. He spent the majority of his career in the Texas League (1951, 1953-1955, 1956-1960) and though he played in the Cleveland Indians, Cincinnati Reds, Baltimore Orioles, Philadelphia Phillies, San Francisco Giants and Milwaukee Braves systems, he didn't reach the majors with any of them.

He set the pace early, hitting 22 home runs with 100 RBI in 129 games for the Burlington Indians in 1948, then 22 home runs with 98 RBI for the Spartanburg Peaches in 1949. In 1950, he fell to 14 home runs, but had 35 doubles and a .324 batting average in 133 games for the Dayton Indians. He added 24 home runs in 1951, then hit .313/.434/.565 with 25 home runs, 108 RBI, 94 walks and just 69 strikeouts in 135 games between two clubs in 1952. After hitting 12 and 13 home runs over the next two seasons, respectively, he rebounded to 25 dingers with 90 RBI and 91 runs scored in 147 games in 1955. He hit just 6 home runs in 1956, but bashed 26 in 1957 and in 1958, he had a career year, batting .313/.403/.595 with 39 home runs, 111 RBI, 114 runs scored and 325 total bases in 152 games for the Corpus Christi Giants. He fell to 12 home runs in 1959 and 2 in 1960 to wrap up his career.

Overall, he had at least 1,247 hits, 191 home runs and 830 RBI In 1,591 games over 13 seasons.
