Biographical Information[edit]

Matteo Sollecito has pitched for the Great Britain national team.

Sollecito grew up in Britain and came to the US for high school to improve his baseball abilities. [1] He was Britain's top hitter by far in the 2019 European Championship U23 at .500/.571/.700, stealing four bases in six tries to boot, but he allowed nine runs (eight earned) in 4 2/3 IP for their second-highest ERA. He tied Jonathan DuForest and Martin Mužík for second in average (behind Filip Smola), 7th in slugging (between Andrija Tomić and Nolan Soliveres), 3rd in OBP (behind Smola and DuForest) and first in steals (one ahead of Julian Rip, Konstiantyn Boyko and Martin Červinka. As a college freshman, he was 1-0 with a 2.70 ERA in a COVID-19-shortened season then did not play in '21. He had a 4-1, 4.01 record in 2022. He was on Britain's roster in the 2022 World Baseball Classic Qualifiers as they qualified for the 2023 World Baseball Classic, their first World Baseball Classic, but did not get into a game. [3]
