Biographical Information

Matt Wheeler played college ball at the three colleges & universities noted above and earned a degree in liberal studies with a minor in kinesiology. He also pitched professionally in the independent Pecos League with the Tucson Saguaros (2018) and the Bakersfield Train Robbers (2019).

Wheeler began his coaching career with Monterey Peninsula College in 2017 and was listed among the team's coaches as of 2022. In 2021 he joined the Boston Red Sox organization as a video intern for the Worcester Red Sox. Wheeler moved into a regular coaching role in 2022 as a coach for the Greenville Drive. He returned to Worcester as bullpen coach in 2023 then was assistant pitching coach of the Salem Red Sox in 2024.
