Biographical Information[edit]

Starting pitcher Matt Loosen has played in the Chicago Cubs minor league system since 2010 (through 2014). He was taken by the club in the 23rd round of the 2010 amateur draft. He was signed by scout Tom Clark.

He won 10+ games for the first time in 2012, going 11-5 with a 4.07 ERA in 23 starts for the Daytona Cubs. In 112 2/3 innings, he had 110 strikeouts and 46 walks. He was a Florida State League Post-Season All-Star that season. On July 8, 2013, he threw a no-hitter against the Dunedin Blue Jays.
