Biographical Information

Matt Heidenreich is a pitcher in the Houston Astros organization.

He was selected by the Chicago White Sox in the 4th round of the 2009 amateur draft out of a high school in Lake Elsinore, CA (the scout was Mike Baker) and made his professional debut that same year. In 16 games as a reliever for the Bristol White Sox, he was 0-1, 4.50. In 2010, he split his season between Bristol, where he was 6-2, 2.69 as a starting pitcher, and the Kannapolis Intimidators, where he pitched only one inning. He tied Spencer Arroyo for second in the Appalachian League in ERA (behind Enny Romero) and tied for fourth in wins.

In 2011, he spent the entire season at Kannapolis in the South Atlantic League, with a record of 10-10, 4.37 in 27 starts. He tied for fourth in the South Atlantic League in both victories and losses. He began 2012 with the Winston-Salem Dash of the Carolina League, where he did very well, as attested by a record of 8-2 and a 3.57 ERA in 15 starts. Shortly after being promoted to the AA Birmingham Barons, he was sent to the Astros in a trade for veteran P Brett Myers. along with Blair Walters. He had gone 1-2, 5.89 in 3 starts in the Southern League.
