Biographical information[edit]
Pitcher Matt Bruback was drafted by the Chicago Cubs in the 47th round of the 1997 amateur draft and signed with the club in May of 1998. He was traded by the Cubs with Jose Hernandez and a player to be named later (Bobby Hill) to the Pittsburgh Pirates for Aramis Ramirez and Kenny Lofton on July 23, 2003. Bruback pitched in only four games at AAA for the Pirates, then was claimed on waivers by the San Diego Padres less than one month later on August 19, 2003.
